Public Safety, Revitalization and Walkability.

By Art Madrid

Candidate for Mayor; City of La Mesa

This information is provided by the candidate
Since public safety is my number one priority, our current new fire station and pending police station were visions I have had for our community since 1994. At the same time I also envisioned an expanded recreational facility, which ultimately became the Junior Seau Sports Complex and Briercrest Park.

The revitalization of the "downtown village" has also been a long term process, and now with the support of the majority of the city council, we have begun the planning process which will lead to a unique, attractive and totally revitalized village, while retaining its 'village ambiance."

La Mesa is one of the most walkable communities in the region. As such, the enhancement of El Cajon Blvd, the Civic Center Campus, and the planned revitalizing of University Avenue are extensions of my long held vision of making our community, accessible, friendly and easy to get around.
