Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Claude A. "Bud" Lewis

Candidate for
Mayor; City of Carlsbad

This information is provided by the candidate

MAINTAIN FINANCIAL RESTRAINT

The Carlsbad City Council has always shown great financial restraint, which has resulted in our having the largest reserves of any North County city even after the golf course is finished. Every City Council Person must pay attention to this requirement. A NO vote on Proposition E is critical, because if Prop E passes it will cost the city between $30,000,000 and $50,000,000.

CONTINUE TO CONTROL GROWTH

In 1986 the citizens of Carlsbad adopted a growth management plan which dramatically reduced the development possible in our city. The plan includes a requirement that at least 40% of the city be open space when it is built out. Our plan has forced developers to pay the public cost of their developments. It is critical to understand and respect this plan.

INTEGRITY IN GOVERNMENT

Many special interests want favors from government. The secret of integrity is keeping the interest of the people of Carlsbad above all else. I am very proud of my reputation.
