For years I have heard the political promises to maintain the village atmosphere and quality of life that we expect as residents of this great town. Unfortunately, the village atmosphere and quality of life have not been preserved. I am a homeowner, have raised a family here, and have no special interests which threaten the style and quality of life for the people of Coronado. I understand the needs, and share the concerns, of the mainstream residents of Coronado. I would like to work to restore the village atmosphere that has made Coronado such an enjoyable place to live and visit.

During my 30 years of service to our country in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 2003 as a Captain, I have proven my leadership abilities. Coronado needs my kind of leadership to better address the many critical issues facing our community. Coronado's seemingly uncontrolled building policies have adversely impacted current homeowners, traffic continues to be a problem (both the quantity and quality), the small business environment that is uniquely Coronado must be preserved and improved, our police and fire departments need the personnel and resources to better enforce those laws designed to ensure the peaceful enjoyment of our town and protect our safety, and we need to better coordinate with the Navy to balance the often competing concerns of our national defense and the peaceful enjoyment of our community. The City Council needs to better represent the citizens of Coronado.

PRIORITIES

  • Improve the quality of life, and restore the small-town atmosphere, in Coronado

  • Work to reduce the adverse impacts of traffic in Coronado

  • Support zoning ordinances that restrict overbuilding, control density, and protect homeownerˇ¦s interests

  • Support the retention and success of small businesses in Coronado, to ensure a vibrant business community with a small town feel

  • Ensure our Police and Fire Departments are best equipped and staffed to enforce our laws and provide for our safety

  • Provide oversight of city actions and proposals to ensure the best benefit to Coronado residents

  • Better monitor and advocate for reduction in pollution

  • Better coordinate with the Navy to balance the often competing concerns of our national defense and the peaceful enjoyment of our community
