I believe in small, efficient, transparent government for our public institutions. Pertaining to the governance of a school board, I believe that current, detailed financial information should be published for the public to view. Resulting from my advocacy of transparent government, the district is now providing some information on its website. Party affiliation indicates ideology, and actions speak louder than political rhetoric. Although the district is making strides towards using technology in the classroom, the board doesn't use technology at all to communicate with the public. None of the board members have their e-mail addresses listed on the district's website. Furthermore, the board has not used Internet Discussion Boards (Blogs) to attain information from the community and to disseminate information. When I say I will create open government, I provide examples of actions that I will take. Already, my participation in this election has mildly improved transparency. My election would ensure a completely open government. The three incumbents are interchangable with the same ideas and all of their primary experience in education is derived from being board members. Their expertise is duplicative, mine is unique. I offer current, extensive experience in classrooms throughout the San Diego County and daily access to experts in all areas of education through my collaboration with universities and San Diego school districts. Improving transparency, operating a fiscally efficient organization, improving communication to the public, and improving educational results are my goals. Unlike my competitors, I have the expertise, access to resources, and creative ideas to implement action to achieve these objectives. How can the public trust the "expertise" of the current board in the area of educational technology, if they do not even utilize the basics such as e-mail to communicate with the public? Choose innovation and educational expertise to compliment the board's deficiencies. The current board members' expertise is duplicative, I offer expertise in areas the current board does not have.
