Born in Indiana, Greg was raised in San Carlos/Lake Murray area from 1960-1968. His family has lived in East County for decades. When Greg went off to college, UCSD to Pacific University to San Diego State, he always thought he would return to the area. Greg has taught public school in Southern California for 30 years. Recently retired, he just finished 22 years at Fallbrook High School. Greg taught World Cultures and Metalworking but spent most of his years teaching American and World History. Greg has a Bachelor's Degree from Pacific University in Oregon, Standard Teaching Credential from SDSU and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction along with an Administrative Services Credential from UCR. Greg has been a teacher leader during most of his public school career. He is a San Diego Area Writing Project Fellow who demonstrated lessons to numerous groups in SD County. He was elected twice as president of the Fallbrook High School Teachers' Association. He was also on 3 WASC teams evaluating Southern California area high schools for accreditation. Greg was co-founder of the Academies Program at Fallbrook High and brought the Senior Project concept to the campus. Senior projects entailed graduating high school seniors to select a service or physical project, get a mentor in the community, write a research paper and present the results in a speech to a panel of community members. In the final five years of Greg's tenure at Fallbrook High, he was Digital High School Coordinator. In this position he implemented programs of training and logistical support for all 150+ district teachers who suddenly had computers and peripherals in their classrooms and needed to integrate curriculum and duties (like electronic grading and attendance) into their daily professional lives. Greg moved back to live near family in east county two years ago. Here he found some of the same problems that he left at Fallbrook High (top-down management, teachers leaving the district, intimidation tactics from the district office, etc.) which were parallel to many of the problems At Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District. Greg will work to heal the division and solve some of the urgent problems the Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District has. As a public school educator and leader, he believes he is the best choice for seat #5 on the Board of Trustees.
