Born and raised in California, I've been and active member and Resident of Carlsbad since 1986. Carlsbad has changed drastically in the last 20 years. I recently founded the Concerned Citizens of Carlsbad in order to protecting the Strawberry and Flower-growing fields from development, not to mention other current city issues. With overwhelming community support, it has now become Proposition E on the November 2006 ballot.

Candidacy Pledge:

As a City Council member, my first priorities will be to value the opinions, thoughts and wishes of all citizens of Carlsbad and then vote in a manner consistent with and in the best interest of our community.

Community Issues:

1. Adoption of the voter approved Growth Management Plan in 1986 was intended to limit development, preserve our precious 40% open space and prevent Carlsbad from becoming another Orange County. Traffic, over development and overcrowding is a major problem that needs to be addressed at this crucial turning point.

2. Public Safety for our community is a high priority on my list. The Police and Fire Department have struggled over the years in order to obtain the necessary equipment and facilities so as to match the growing city demands.

3. The new public golf course is nearly $60 Million dollars over budget (that's more than $600 for every man, woman and child in Carlsbad!), with no end in sight. This extreme waste of tax dollars and the excessive financial burden it creates will be felt for decades to come, and paid for by us and by our children. The 400-acre Golf course lands could, instead, be used for ALL Carlsbad citizens to enjoy - not just golfers.

Campaign Commitments:

1. I will monitor and uphold the voter approved Growth Management Plan (Proposition "E") Dwelling Unit Capacity per four quadrents and vote accordingly.

2. I will always vote Yes for the fire and police departments needs and help to promote for a better equipped first response force for our community.

3. I will continue to fight to protect our world renowned Strawberry and Flower growing fields from all future development.

4. I will always vote YES to protect and preserve the Ponto Beach area, Calavera Hills area from over density development and protect all creeks, wildlife and natural habitat areas from development.

5. I will always vote NO to prevent any further runaway spending, such as, the city golf course and encourage other council members to be more financially fiscally responsible.
