Board Member; Scotts Valley Unified School District

I have been a school board trustee for three years now and have seen the district through some pretty tough times. We are definitely on an upward swing right now with an effective new administration, fiscal balance and responsibility, the lawsuit at the High School settled, successful union negotiations continuing, facilities plans and improvements underway.

The areas that need the most attention are improvements in our academic achievement, updates to our key policies, and continuing facilities upgrades. There are several long term financial liabilities having to due with bond financing and benefits/retirement programs that have to be considered now and in the near future.

What we need in terms of representation on the board are people who care about all these topics and about the Unified school district - all 4 schools. I am one of those people. I understand the workings of the District. I not only show up at the meetings, I contribute. I talk with parents. I go the extra mile.

I have supported and continue to support all four schools and the Unified district with my time, my money, my leadership and management capabilities.

I am a current Director and former President of the Scotts Valley Educational Foundation which raises money solely to benefit Scotts Valley schools. I am a member of Kiwanis and will become treasurer of that organization in October. As Part of Kiwanis I am an advisor for our 3 high school key clubs at Scotts Valley High, San Lorenzo Valley High, and Pacific Collegiate. I am heavily involved in the planning and execution of some of Scotts Valley's biggest community events including the Ice Cream Social, Bean Creek Run, and more. I am the Scotts Valley Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year for 2006.

If elected I will continue to pour my mind, heart and soul into this District.

Thanks for your support and your vote.
