My motivation is unwavering and simple... it's the children, ALL of the children. Happy, well rounded, highly educated children are the keys to our future. When I first volunteered in a classroom six years ago, and read with a child other than my own, I realized that I not only wanted an amazing educational experience for my children, I also wanted it for all children. Furthermore, I realized I wanted to be an active participant in making a difference.

My goal as a board member is also simple: to partner with the parents, staff, community organizations, local agencies, and state legislature to achieve positive change in our district.

As a district, I believe that our primary focus must be in attaining higher academic standards and meeting student achievement needs. This goal is critical for two reasons. First, we must provide our students the tools necessary for future successes. Second, as The State of California's expectations continue to rise, we must work to reach and exceed them. By promoting maximizing state funding for school sites, classrooms, and programs I will help to ensure that we are focused on and fully supporting student achievement by advancing effective academic and enrichment programs, providing quality staff development and retention, and supplying the resources necessary to meet individual needs. While striving to ensure safe and healthy learning environments I will work to enhance an environment in which children can focus on their education. Our schools and drop off/pick up areas must be physically safe and emotionally healthy settings for children. By working to strengthen our community through improved communication and collaboration, I will work to ensure that district plans and actions are well known and reflect our community. Our children will flourish in a united district. By focusing on our future, and working to establish a district vision that will encompass a fiscally healthy and growing district we can exceed our goals and strengthen our role as a district of choice! Self evaluation, community outreach, long term planning, and accountability are some of the critical elements of this vision.

As a trustee, I will be available, receptive, communicative, and proactive in both my thinking as well as in my actions. I will dedicate my time to listening, preparedness, conducting research, self development, and simply asking questions. I will always have what is in the best interest of the children foremost in my mind while making decisions and will focus on constant improvement in an individualized but equitable manner for all schools and students.
