Trustee; West Valley-Mission Community College District; Trustee Area 1

There is much work to be done.

As a Trustee of our Community College District I will work to accomplish the following goals:

• Completion of needed improvements at the Mission & West Valley campuses in order to:
  
  - Ensure a well-maintained and safe environment.
  
  - Upgrade and expand job-training classrooms to meet the demands of a changing workforce
  
  - Meet the technology needs of our community with a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure

• Serve as a community ambassador in order to:
  
  - Build strong community relationships
  
  - Encourage and support participation by residents of the communities we serve
  
  - Be responsive to the needs of students and the community

• Encourage accountability and integrity within the organization and ensure that we act honestly and openly at all times

• Emphasize programs of diversity and inclusion, counseling and guidance, for students of all ages including minorities and re-entry women

• Provide open access to affordable educational opportunities, facilities, and academic programs for students who:
  
  - Want to transfer to four-year colleges
  
  - Require remedial instruction
  
  - Are supplementing a high school education
  
  - Require retraining to expand their job skills

• Offer curricula that sustain continued economic growth in Silicon Valley by providing a better-educated workforce to benefit local businesses. The positive impact on the community of training our service personnel is enormous.
