JOAN LEON "for a more open city government"

Council's Direction

I want to make a difference with new ideas and new energy.

Open Government

The city should make every effort to inform the public, not just the minimum notice required by law. Did we have a voice about the contaminated sand being trucked through our city to the landfill for the next five years? Why did the grand jury in 2004-05 have to issue eighteen subpoenas to investigate the city government?

After Work

I will hold "after work" town hall meetings and other opportunities for you to have a voice in our city government. An open government lets the people have a say on issues concerning them.

No Conflicts

As a candidate free of self-interest conflicts, I will continue to speak out and ask critical questions at city council meetings.

The office of city council member is non-partisan, so I have purposely not asked for any political endorsements and have not accepted financial support from organizations, businesses, unions, etc. Nor have I asked for business endorsements by posting large signs on their property. That way, I will be a council member for the people, not for special interests.

Elect JOAN LEON to the city council for a more open city government
