MY POLITICS

I do not want to change the world, or America, or California. I want to PRESERVE THE LOMPOC VALLEY LIFESTYLE and improve our future. I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am not a liberal or a conservative. I want to find practical solutions to community problems, and to choose a wise path through difficult times.

MY VISION

I want Lompoc to CONSTRUCT A SOLID ECONOMIC FUTURE. The diatomaceous earth mines and the local farms must continue to provide the monetary foundation for our financial well being. Outdoor tourism is a neglected industry here and can be greatly expanded. We have the necessary ingredients to create a nurse training academy. We can turn Lompoc into a center for long term medical care. Low cost modular housing and classrooms could be assembled here and sold anywhere the train tracks go.

WHAT I WOULD DO

1. I will not vote for any increase in taxes, bonds, or fees. NO NEW TAXES.

2. I will hire 3 NEW POLICE OFFICERS and 2 NEW FIRE FIGHTERS. They will be funded by a 4% reduction in the budgets of all the other general fund departments. Police and Fire have priority over Parks and Streets and all the rest.

3. I will PROTECT FARM LAND from housing tracts.

4. I will PRESERVE OPEN SPACE against development to maintain wildlife and to maintain our small town lifestyle.

5. I will seek a COMPROMISE FOR SURF BEACH which guards the birds with fences and allows people to walk the shoreline.

6. I will encourage OUTDOOR TOURISM with outdoor facilities such as: hiking trails, horseback riding trails, bird watching blinds and trails, camping grounds, archery ranges, and bicycle touring.

7. I will challenge the county to REFURBISH THE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING.

8. I will resist the creation of the wind turbine farm on the southern Santa Ynez skyline to PROTECT EAGLES AND CONDORS.

9. I will encourage the Lompoc Hospital Foundation, and Hancock College, and Lompoc Unified School District to form a NURSE TRAINING ACADEMY.

10. I will encourage the creation of additional long term MEDICAL CARE FACILITIES to create nursing jobs for our children. Lompoc can become a nursing center for the Central Coast. Nurses earn good money.

11. I will encourage the CREATION OF A FACTORY to assemble modular houses and modular classrooms adjacent to the existing railroad tracts.

12. I will invite the Lompoc Unified School District to join a Commission on Youth to address the issues of GANGS AND SCHOOL PERFORMANCE.
