• Sperling Preserve on Ellwood Mesa is now protected as open space forever, thanks to an extraordinary community effort.

• In Old Town, the City Council has purchased a new park and has plans for storefront improvements and a more pedestrian and bicyclist-friendly Hollister Avenue.

• A vigorous program of street and sidewalk maintenance has been instituted throughout the city.

• Public safety has been made a high priority.

• A balanced budget with healthy reserves has been adopted every year.

• Santa Barbara School Board member 1975-92.

• Planned Parenthood Board member 1975-83.

• Planned Parenthood Public Affairs Director, 1983-94.

• Planned Parenthood Action Fund Board member, 2004 - present.

• Santa Barbara Women's Political Committee founding member and President, 1997-98.
