Candidate for Board Member; Hope School District

Personal information about Rebecca and her desire to serve on the board
The Hope School District is in a time of transition that calls for active, informed, and experienced leadership. My experience and education have given me the knowledge and skills to provide this leadership.

I have worked for local government since 1987 and, as a public sector manager, have experience with public budgets, long-term planning, and personnel management. I have experience in policy development and implementation and value inclusionary public processes that allow decision making in an open and transparent way. I have served on the board of directors for a 6,000 member non-profit organization.

I graduated with honors from the Masters of Public Administration program at Cal State Northridge, and have a strong liberal arts undergraduate education with a degree in Biology from Grinnell College. I attended California public schools. I believe a good education is a well-rounded education, with focus on academics, arts and athletics.

I have worked in Santa Barbara for 18 years. My husband and I have a second-grade daughter and kindergarten son at Vieja Valley School. I look forward to serving our school district as a member of the Hope School Board.
