Roger Aceves has worked in law enforcement for almost 30 years. He began his career in the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and now works at the Police Department for the City of Santa Barbara. Aceves is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He received his second H. Thomas Guerry Award in 1994 for successfully negotiating the 21-hour Joseph Segura hostage seige.

Aceves served as El Presidente for Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara in 1994, and was appointed by former Governor Gray Davis to the 19th Agricultural District which runs Earl Warren Showgrounds. He has served as President of the Board for four terms at the showgrounds. He has also been active in many non-profit organizations and is currently serving on the board of the Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation.

Roger Aceves has been married to his wife Debby, a teacher assistant at Roosevelt School, for over 30 years. His son Tim just graduated from Northwestern University in Illinois with a degree in History.
