Campaign Statement

By Alex Ganchenko

Candidate for Board Member; Sacramento City Unified School District

Campaign statement for Alex Ganchenko which appears on the Sample Ballot
I am a Christian, and a faithful member of Melkizedek Church. I have lived in Sacramento for over 15 years and currently have four of my children in local public schools.

I was alarmed after reviewing the past years board agendas to find out that the current board is dealing with issues that have nothing to do education! I found they were spending their time voting on resolutions dealing with issues like United Nations policy and gay rights. They even managed to pass a proclamation opposing an illegal immigration bill. Political issues like sodomy and immigration should be kept out of the classroom - these issues should be debated and voted on by our legislators and not our school board members!

School Boards were set up to give parents control of their childrens' education. Boards should not be run by retired educators who have been in the system and can easily be swayed by union money, personal gain and other conflicts of interest. The effects of allowing life-long public educators to direct our schools has resulted in higher teacher pay but lower student test scores. A vote for me will put parents in control and children's education first!
