We need more recyclying and water conservation programs

By Shenna J. Moqeet

Candidate for Director; San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency

Water recycling and water conservation are the best ways to ensure a continuous water supply.
I have practiced water conservation for years. Years ago I taught my children not to run the faucets to brush their teeth. As I live in an older home, it takes awhile for hot water to get to my sinks. I keep containers on hand and fill them with water until it gets warm. I take that water and use it on my outside potted plants. I think new development should have instant hot water at each faucet outlet. A gentleman recently told me he just bought a new house, and in his second floor bathrooms,it takes a full five minutes of running water to get hot water to the faucet. Imagine how much precious drinking water is wasted every day in each new house in that development. With the right infrastructure, that water may eventually be recaptured and reused as "grey water," but never again will it be fresh potable drinking water. That kind of poor planning will hurt the future of water supplies for our next generations. It should be our duty to plan ahead well for the future now, not later.
