I have over thirty years of teaching experience at the elementary, middle school, high school and community college level. I have been teaching at Poly High School in the Riverside Unified School District since 1993. I teach Spanish, Chicano Studies and Ethnic Studies. In addition I teach US History at San Bernardino Valley Community College.

I am a lifelong Democrat and was first elected to public office in 1989 when I was elected to the Jurupa Unified School District Board of Education. I have been on the Board of Trustees of Riverside Community College since 1997 and am presently Board Vice President.

I have served on the Riverside County Democratic Central Committee and am currently a member of the California State Democratic Central Committee. In 1996, I was elected to serve as a Clinton delegate at the National Democratic Convention in Chicago.

I am married and have two children, Jennifer (25) and Matt (22).
