NEW IDEAS, NEW ENERGY AND NEW LEADERSHIP Loretta Zimmerman has the professional expertise, practical knowledge, and vision to ensure that Newport-Mesa schools provide the 21st century education and skills students need to succeed today.

Loretta Zimmerman believes that quality education is critical to prepare our students for the 21st century job markets and success in higher education in order to become responsible and contributing citizens to our communities.

Loretta supports rigorous academic standards aligned with state content and performance standards and the No Child Left Behind Act.

PRIORITIES

- Promote a curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking, sciences, and technology.
- Engage students in life skill classes like business, entrepreneurship and personal finance.
- Increase ratio of school counselors to advise on college prep, internships, and vocational training.
- Equip our teachers and the classrooms to maximize student learning in safe, clean schools.
- Adopt fiscally responsible budgets and ensure equity in implementing Measure F school bond improvements.
- Involve all of the stakeholders - parents, teachers, and community members in the educational goals of the NMUSD.
- Work to establish term limits for Newport-Mesa School Board Members.

Loretta has been involved in Newport-Mesa schools and pre-school education for over 20 years. Her five children have attended Newport-Mesa schools from K through 12th grade - four sons have graduated from Corona del Mar High School and her daughter is currently in 9th grade. Loretta believes that it is vital to have parents represented on the School Board to have input on the policies and decisions of the school district.
