For the first six years of his life, Andrew and his family lived in Fullerton. While residing in Fullerton, Andrew was fortunate enough to attend kindergarten at Fanning Elementary School. In 1991, to be certain that Andrew and his brother, Christopher, would continue attending Brea's quality schools, the Todd family moved to Brea.

Andrew spent his entire K-12 educational career in the Brea school system attending Fanning Elementary, Brea Junior High School and Brea Olinda High School. He graduated in 2003 and is a full-time student at Fullerton College. Next year, he will transfer to California State University, Fullerton to continue the family tradition and pursue a career in the public education system.

As a fifth grader at Fanning, Andrew was enrolled in the school district's elementary instrumental music program. He continued in the program for seven years until graduating high school. While a member of the program, Andrew played the trumpet, french horn, mellophone, sousaphone, tuba, string bass and trombone. As a member of the high school program, Andrew served as Publicity Director for the Instrumental Music (Student) Council as well as the marching band's low brass section leader.

Family
Andrew is the son of Rodney and Kathryn Todd, both of whom have been career employees for the Montebello Unified School District. Kathy has served for almost 33 years in various departments at Montebello's district office. She currently serves as the Executive Assistant to the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services. Rod was a teacher, administrative assistant, assistant principal, principal and district office administrator in the Montebello school system for over 40 years. Today, he serves as one of five Professional Standards Advocates for the Association of California School Administrators.

Community Service
During his tenure with the instrumental music program, there was very little support from the School Board to the site administrators. As a result, he decided to contribute as much as possible to the program. To this day, Andrew serves as Publicity Coordinator for the high school's Instrumental Music Boosters Board of Directors. As an instrumental music booster, he has also served on the planning committee for the Brea 8K + the annual race benefiting the high school's Track & Field, Cross Country, Academic and Instrumental Music Booster clubs.

Andrew was a member of Brea's Cub Scout Pack 881 and eventually Brea's Troop 801. As an active member in Troop 801, he served as his patrol's Scribe and Quartermaster. With his dad, he also served in a unique position for a junior high school student + the co-editor of the troop's newsletter. The monthly newsletter was repeatedly called the best in Orange County.

For 20 years Andrew has attended the West Covina Christian Church in West Covina (formerly San Gabriel Valley Japanese Christian Church in Baldwin Park). At the church, he serves with the Audio Visual Team and for the past three years he has served as the church's Website Development Coordinator. In 2005, he served on the Planning Committee for the church denomination's General Conference.

Andrew believes that elected officials should be independent of one another. They should be their own person and do what's in the best interest of the staff and students of the school district. As a Board Member, Andrew will be a strong, independent leader and will vote based on what is in the best interest of the students and staff of the school district.

Andrew is grateful for the education he received in Brea and especially to those teachers that provided it. Like most Breans, Andrew knows that Brea has the best teachers and classified staff in the county. Because Brea's students receive the best education available, those that provide it deserve the best themselves. He believes the school district must offer competitive salaries to attract and retain quality employees.
