Family Values Families are the most important priority for most people. Many people believe that family values are the basis for a successful society. I believe that they are the foundation for our community.

Public Safety I will work with law enforcement and city fire officials to ensure the continued safety and security of our city. We will formulate a strategic plan with city and county law enforcement agencies regarding gangs, graffiti and gang violence. I will develop a communication plan to inform our community when registered sexual predators are living in our neighborhoods. I will team with city officials, business representatives and citizens to develop and maintain a Disaster Preparedness Plan.

Fiscal Responsibility I will work on developing a sound budget that will not increase taxes. Audit current city contracts. Develop a Strategic Financial plan.

Political Responsibility The strength of a political system depends upon the full and willing participation of its citizens. I will engage the citizens of Orange to help us improve our community. I am impartial, and will not favor those who have helped me or in a position to do so. I will value diverse opinions, and gain insight from them.

Immigration Issue Federal legislation sponsored by Congressman Chris Cox opened the door for state and local law enforcement agencies to do something about serious or violent criminals who are in this country illegally. The proposal, which calls for a five-week training course for Orange County Sherriff's deputies, would have to be approved by the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the U.S. Department of Justice, gives certain limited powers to enforce federal immigration laws. I learned that the Sheriff's proposal is in the form of a draft MOU which has been submitted to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for their review and approval. I will work with Bill Campbell of the County Board of Supervisors, the Orange County Sheriff, and Orange Police department to help initiate this program in our city.

Promoting smart growth that protects our neighborhoods As your neighbor and Orange native, I'll use my knowledge to protect our neighborhood's emergency services, parks, trails, libraries and community centers. I will push for strict code enforcement.

Support our Troops This November 11, as we honor the sacrifice and courage of our veterans, let us recognize that the best way to support our troops is to call for their swift exit from Iraq, to guarantee them the care they deserve when they return, and a place of respect in our community.
