  • Commanding General of Aircraft Wing and Marine Corps Research, Development and Acquisition Command
  • Director of Plans for the Marine Corps
  • Retired as Major General

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)

  • Associate Administrator for Human Space Flight
  • Responsible for Space Station and Space Shuttle
  • Headquartered in Washington, D.C., responsible for the four NASA Space Centers: Johnson Space Center, Kennedy Space Center, Marshall Space Center and Stennis Space Center
  • Managed a Six Billion dollar budget with over 20,000 people
  • During tenure successfully completed 19 Space Shuttle missions, including the Historic First Hubble Repair Mission

Married to Patricia VanGysel at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro. Have lived in South Orange County off and on since 1972 and in San Juan Capistrano for the last five years.
