"A new choice working to serve you"

With more than 28 years of dedicated service with the Fountain Valley Fire Department, I held positions as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Paramedic Coordinator, Fire Training Officer, Fire Investigator I, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Fire Marshal/Building Safety Manager. I retired on December 31, 2005 after 31.5 rewarding and enjoyable years in the fire service.

By attending most city council meetings over the last five years, I recognized the need for new ideas and having an open mind approach to meet the challenges facing the City in the future.

My conservative values of honesty, integrity, and strong work ethic have served me well and I submit a record of City experience, knowledge, and proven leadership to make informed and rational decisions while serving you, my constituents.

Some of my duties and experience included the City budget process, Disaster Preparedness Manager, Orange County Paramedic Advisory and Paramedic Continuous Quality Improvement Committee member, Fountain Valley City Safety Committee member, emergency management/response, labor negotiations, and customer service activities.

Priorities:

  • Provide responsive and well equipped Police and Fire Services
  • Financial stability by balancing the budget without raising taxes
  • Fair and equal representation for all residents
  • Maintain the level of public works, water, and community services our citizens expect and deserve
  • Promote our business community and look to attract new business to improve our sales tax revenues

Philosophy:
  • Preserve and protect the community and your property rights
  • With local demographics changing, I promise to represent all Fountain Valley residents with respect, dignity, and understanding, while encouraging your participation and input
  • Keep an open mind and have an open door policy

I support the long awaited Recreation Center/Sports Facilities Expansion Project that will better serve the needs of our youth and adult sports programs. Also, I am encouraged to see the widespread use of the new Senior Center and will support volunteer opportunities, services, and activities for our growing senior population.

I also support renewing Measure M, which provide Fountain Valley with funds to make street and intersection improvements, widen freeways, as well as widen and resurface streets, including traffic signal synchronization to lessen traffic congestion and improve street safety in Fountain Valley.

My campaign is entirely self funded and I will not accept any monetary campaign contributions.

I respectfully request your trust and the consideration of your vote for Fountain Valley City Council on Tuesday November 7th, 2006.

Thank You,

Steve Nagel
