WHY RUN FOR THE CYPRESS CITY COUNCIL?

By Leroy Mills

Candidate for Council Member; City of Cypress

This information is provided by the candidate
To return the investment to the Cypress Community that was made on our behalf for 28 years.
Mary Ann and I are 30-year homeowners and residents of Cypress. We have a significant interest in Cypress and have no intentions of leaving.

For some 28 years, we were busy raising Kevin and Meredith, participating in the typical youth activities (Little League, softball, etc.) while we both pursued our careers. I traveled extensively in the Air Force/Department of Defense and Mary Ann taught school at Irvine Immediate School in Garden Grove. Simply, we depended on others to "look out for our best interests" in the functioning of Cypress.

Now that I am retired, I have the time, interest, and commitment to serve the Cypress Community as one of Cypress' new Councilmen. I specifically want today's working families to be assured that I will represent their best interests in participating in the leadership of Cypress. They need not worry about "who is minding the store". I understand their pressure points.

For me, serving as a Cypress Councilman will not be a "part time job" that I will do after getting home from work. Nor will it be an "ad hoc" activity that I will fit in somehow.

My attendance at the City Council workshops and meetings for the past 2 years has given me great insight into our City's functioning, fiscal health, plans, and issues.

This "side line" participation has greatly prepared me to be immediately productive upon election.

I AM NOT RUNNING FOR PUBLIC OFFICE, I AM RUNNING TO SERVE THE PUBLIC.
