New laws, new paths needed......

By Vivian Kirkpatrick-Pilger

Candidate for Board Member, 4 Year; Midway City Sanitary District

As our laws regarding environment and waste management become more complicated, a candidate with experience in analysis and decision making is needed....
When I ran in 2004 here is what I said: "I have a strong background in analysis and decision making. I have 31 years of experience. The last 24 years I have worked at the University of California, Irvine. For the most recent 14 years I have managed the largest department in the school of engineering. I work in an environment that demands analysis of various methods of achieving goals and solving problems. Good decisions based on sound analysis, combined with recognition of working environment confines and collaborative interaction with all relative parties promotes optimum results."

I think that my experience in analysis and decision making has lead to some of the most progressive repairs and replacements that the MCSD has done. The other directors recognized the needs as well, and it was a 5-0 vote to take a loan out to cover the replacement and repair of those four sewer pump stations and forced mains. It was a need for which the time had come. I think we will have optimum results. Had we not acted on this, the results could have been a disaster.
