Council Member Patricia "Trish" Kelley

Trish Kelley was elected to serve as a member of the Mission Viejo City Council in November 2002, and served as Mayor in 2005. She currently serves as the City's representative for the Orange County Fire Authority Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the OCFA Budget and Finance Committee. She is also the alternate representative on the Board of Directors for the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor Agency.

Trish believes that quality of life, public safety, and transportation are the primary concerns of our residents and works hard to preserve and enhance those areas.

Council Member Kelley has advanced the expansion of the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, the renovations of Montanoso and Sierra Recreation Centers, and expanded hours for the library. She led the effort to establish Mission Viejo as a Community of Character, and the program won the prestigious League of California State Cities Helen Putnam Award of Excellence. Mission Viejo has received recognition as the safest city in California each year since Trish was elected, crime statistics and traffic collisions have gone down, and School Resource Officers have been provided to our high schools and middle schools. Alicia Parkway has been widened, lanes are being added to Crown Valley Parkway, and Oso Parkway and La Paz will follow. Trish is also working on a senior transportation program.

Trish has been a resident of Mission Viejo for 29 years. Mission Viejo became her home when her husband, Jack, was assigned as a pilot to the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. The Kelleys raised their three children here, and all were active in youth sports and activities in Mission Viejo and attended schools in the Capistrano Unified School District. Trish has been volunteering in the community since she moved here in 1977. She has served as PTA President at Capistrano Valley High School, Newhart Middle School, and Viejo Elementary School. Trish has also been a Girl Scout Leader, a volunteer with many youth sports teams, and has served at her church, Grace Community.

Council Member Kelley continues to volunteer in many areas. She is the 2006/2007 American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Co-Chairman as well as a Team Captain. She serves on the Fun With Chalk Advisory Board, the Trauma Intervention Program Advisory Council, the Capistrano Valley High School Foundation Board, and the Saddleback Community College Veterans' Memorial Advisory Council. She is a volunteer on the City Community of Character Committee, as well as the Cougars for Character Club at Capistrano Valley High School.

Although the position of City Council Member is part-time, Trish is accessible to the public. She maintains regular office hours at City Hall and responds promptly to phone calls and emails. You may reach her at trishkelley1@cox.net or (949) 444-1123.
