Safety

With our excellent La Palma Police force we are one of the SAFEST CITIES in California and I want to keep it that way! I enthusiastically support Project Safe Streets and the new Police Interaction with Youth (P.I.Y.) program which brings educational police presence into our schools. To improve the safety of our school children, I approved of the City's funding of Crossing Guards at two of our local schools, Los Coyotes and Luther Elementary.

Street Maintenance

I believe we need more cost effective methods of street rehabilitation such as re-surfacing with Rubberized Asphalt Concrete (RAC). It's more environmentally friendly with a longer lasting and water-resistant surface.

City Finances

I am fiscally conservative and I believe in maintaining adequate reserves. Reserves must be kept for potential revenue shortfalls or natural disasters, as originally intended. We must operate within approved budgets, whether it is for the City's own operating budget or the Community Center construction project.

I alone voted NO when a major source of revenue, that for many years had been earmarked for RESERVES, was transferred to the GENERAL FUND. I also voted NO on excessive Management raises.
