Joe Aguirre is a longtime resident of Placentia, having grown up in Placentia and nearby Fullerton. He has over 34 years of involvement in Placentia because he cares about our city and believes a person must get involved to make a positive difference. His family has been part of Placentia for nearly 100 years and has long been active in the city.

Joe's first taste of local government came in Fullerton in 1975, when that city's redevelopment agency tried to condemn his parents' beautiful home to make way for a shopping center. Aided by a 22-year-old college grad named Chris Norby, now Orange County Supervisor, Joe helped his parents win a hard-fought citywide campaign to save their home from the bulldozers. The experience was pivotal in shaping his community involvement and volunteerism.

More recently in Placentia, Joe was a co-founder of Citizens For A Better Placentia. He led the fight against eminent domain; revealed questionable details about the TOD redevelopment plan; exposed the TOD master developer's unfavorable background and lack of credentials; helped reveal the wastefulness of the city's OnTrac rail trench project; and has opposed the diversion of city money from vital community services and programs.
