Rebuild City Staffing and Service Levels

By Linda Grebmeier

Candidate for Councilmember; City of King City

This information is provided by the candidate
We need to restore the cuts made in local staffing.
The City of King has had to eliminate several city jobs and reduce service to survive. Along with building our economy we need to restore these city jobs.

The Police Department, Public Works, and City Hall all lost employees. City Hall needs to be open five days a week, not four.

The Police Department needs more officers to patrol our streets and to respond to calls for service.

The Public Works Department needs more employees to repair the streets, maintain the parks, and keep city property in proper order.

The City Hall needs more staff to help the public. This includes restoring the lost department heads. Part-time employees and consultants help in the short term, but we need management staff that is going to be around for awhile.

Economic Development should be staffed and funded to help bring our local economy back to its former health.

City services have been cut back to the minimum because of the financial problems. We need to clean up our act financially and to restore the vacant positions that were lost.
