Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Terry O'Day

Candidate for
City Council Member; City of Santa Monica

Few things I believe:

I believe we live during a time of impending environmental crisis and each of us must lead at every level to address our human challenge

I believe environmental sustainability is about clean air, clean water, zero waste, clean energy, reduced traffic BUT ALSO economic justice, civic participation, safe neighborhoods and lifelong learning.

I believe my father is right when he says that "Union wages have put food on your table all your life" and I believe the labor movement saved our nation and you should never cross a picket line.

I believe Santa Monica has a housing crisis and the old solutions are not working because we are losing affordable housing to condo conversion and vacancy decontrol.

I believe housing solutions are available to us if we break out of our old mold - that means workforce housing, affordable home ownership, housing bonds.

I believe homelessness in our community is a sin and we must do what is in our power to help people get off the streets before we presume to help them solve other ills.

I believe that the time is now to elect the next generation to the City Council.

I believe that we are overdo to elect a Pico resident to City Council.

I believe that I will win this election with your help.
