BIOGRAPHY

A native of Houston, Texas, Gloria Gray has spent the past thirty-six years as an active member of the Community in an around the City of Inglewood. Possessing a degree in Business Administration from the University of Redlands and a certificate in Health Services Management from UCLA, Ms. Gray embarked upon a career with the Los Angeles County department of Health Services.

Gloria Gray has served as the African-American Community Liaison for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. As Special Assistant to the Director of Health Services, Gray was an advisor for African-American and Latino health issues and responsible for coordinating a series of outreach programs. Topics covered a wide range of issues from health and education to job development and senior citizen advocacy.

As a retired health care administrator and Past President of Inglewood Unified School District where she served two 4 year terms and was recognized as Member of the Year. Ms. Gray has been a long time and loyal member of SEIU Local 660 and has always supported organized labor and working families. She most recently was a staunch supporter of Save King Drew, the medical doctors and nursing staff and testified at the Bielenson hearings on the negative impact closing the Trauma Center would have on the minority community and families the Hospital and Trauma Center was established to protect. Ms. Gray's community service is extensive including, Board Member and Director to Inglewood Neighborhood Housing Services, South Bay Private Industry Council, Los Angeles Community Action Board and KCET. Ms. Gray is currently a Los Angeles County Health Commissioner appointed by Supervisor Yvonne Burke. She is also on the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine & Science Community Advisory Board, Drew Economic Development Board, LAX Area Community Advisory Committee and recently elected to Los Angeles County Democratic Party County Central Committee 51st Assembly District.

Ms. Gray has received numerous commendations for her dedication including the NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund Woman of Achievement Award, Turning Point Magazine Living History Makers Award for Professional Leadership in Community Service,

American Women Business Association Award for fostering the development of women in Business and State of California's 25th Senatorial District Woman of the Year Award.

Dedication to the community is carefully balanced by Gloria's commitment to her home and family. She is the mother of two adult daughters and the proud grandmother of four.
