Let's Cut the Waste!

By Bill Eisen

Candidate for Board of Directors; Beach Cities Health Care District

This information is provided by the candidate
Our property taxes are high enough without having to fund wasteful assessment districts.
Let's not forget that the Beach Cities Heath District was initially formed as the South Bay Hospital District for the purpose of constructing and operating the South Bay Hospital. But the South Bay Hospital was closed several years ago. Nevertheless, the BCHD annual supplemental property tax assessments (to Redondo, Manhattan and Hermosa property owners) continue. This money is now used to fund administrative salaries and perks for officials of a health district that has no useful purpose.

It's time that the BCHD annual supplemental property tax assessments either be terminated or the funds used for the benefit of our community. For example, BCHD officials have for years been proposing to construct and operate an acquatics center for south bay residents. Great idea! But so far it's been all talk - no do.
