Enforcement of Registered Nurse to Patient Ratios

By Roger Berger

Candidate for Board of Directors; Antelope Valley Health Care District

This information is provided by the candidate
Registered Nurses must be allowed to practice their profession in an atmospere of respect
The Governor signed legislation which requires all hospitals to implement mandatory Registered Nurse to Patient ratios. It is an unfortunate set of circumstances which surrounds Antelope Valley Hospital that the administration has chosen to ignore State Law. The Nursing Department does not support their own Registered Nurses. The Nurses are continually placed in a position where they must sacrifice their Liecense and their own personal lives for their patients, and in return are chastised by their administration. It has been proven that Nurse to Patient Ratios eliminates costly errors by Nurses who are over worked and exhausted. Ratios save lives, saves Nurses and saves thousands of dollars in patient care dollars.
