EXPERIENCE, ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND PHILOSOPHY
Be informed! This election will determine the quality of the School District and education of your children, grand- children, and great grandchildren for the next four years.

In the past four years on the Board I have spent many hours in workshops provided by the District to further our knowledge of protocols and procedures to serve the District more efficiently and effectively.

This education has been invaluable in allowing me to under- stand the workings of a governance team and the duties of a trustee.

A TRUSTEE'S RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:

  • To make sure the District is fiscally sound.
  • Set policies, procedures, protocols and goals to insure the best interest of the students and see that ALL Staff provides the best education possible.
  • Act as community representative and leader within the governance team.
  • Evaluate and oversee accountability of the Superintendent.
  • Serve on the Board panel for disciplinary hearings.

I have served three years on the policy and procedures committee allowing me to be knowledgeable in the laws, rules and regulations that the Schools must follow and understand what our District has adopted. As a member of this committee it was my responsibility to bring these items to the Board for their adoption.

In four years on the facilities committee I reviewed all projects pertaining to all District facilities and am currently working with the District to decide the future of the old Junior High School and completion of the new High School.

A Board of Trustees with four new members took over in December of 2002 facing a $2.5 million debt, a layoff of 58 teacherrs and program cuts. A new Superintendent was hired resulting in, now operating in the black, hiring teachers, restoring programs, achieving the State required reserve and still being able to give salsry increases.

OTHER NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE:

  • A rise in standardized test scores K-12.
  • A rate of 99.9% of all seniors who passed the State Exit Exam.
  • Improved attendance (ADA) which increases revenue for the District.
  • A new AG Facility opened at the start of school.
  • A drop-out rate below the State average for the High School and Monroe.

Believing that today's students are our future I want the best education possible for each one and am a advocate for the education of trades for those who are not College bound. All of us must take an active role in education to insure the future of our children. To me this is the meaning of no child left behind.

I feel my past four years experience makes me a valuable candidate for the Board, and as this year's Board of Trustees vice president I ask for your vote to continue the work that we have started and thank you for your continued support.
