DISCIPLINE AND SAFETY IN AND OUTSIDE OUR SCHOOLS

By Deanna Rodriguez Root

Candidate for Board Member; Richland School District

This information is provided by the candidate
More parental involvement and afterschool activities are needed that will help keep our students off the streets and in a safe environment.
  • Dicipline and safety should be addressed regulary by working together with parents, administrators, and teachers.

  • We need to establish a failproof dicipline and safety guide that includes afterschool programs. A typical afterschool curriculum usually provides remedial education such as academic enrichment, sports, recreation, arts, dance, music, communication and technology, violence education, mentoring and counseling, and character building.

  • Most important in an afterschool program is providing a caring and safe enviornment for all of our children.

  • I will encourage parents, community, and our schools to work together as partners in addressing discipline and safety while in school as well as to and from school.
