Most of the values I have came from my grandfather. The most important thing he taught me was "to never have to back up to get your paycheck". He meant you should be able to look whom ever you worked for or with in the eye and say "I earned my pay by giving you a full day's work". I have applied this principle to almost everything I have done. You should always be able to look another person in the eye with a clear conscious and certainty that what you are saying or doing is the truth and that you can count on that fact. The other value I have that is very important to me is my integrity. Again, my grandfather taught me that integrity is the one thing no one can take from you; only you can give it away.

I went to high school and Business College in Jacksonville, Florida. That is where I met my husband Ken. Ken served in the Navy for 23 years, retiring honorably in 1986. His last duty station was China Lake beginning in May 1984. I thought I could never live in a place like this but those thoughts went away as I began to know the people of this community. Ken did three tours of duty in Viet Nam and he paid for his service to our country in many ways. Ken passed away in 1991 from cancer caused by exposure to asbestos while serving in the Navy. My daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren live in New Orleans, Louisiana and are recovering from Hurricane Katrina.

I am the remaining founding member of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) that started in October 1989 with all volunteers. I became staff at the Women's Center ~ High Desert, Inc. as the SART Project Director in December 1997 where I am now the Director of Development.

I attend St. Michaels Episcopal Church where I am in the second year of a three year term on the governing body. I also have been the Altar Guild Directress for over ten years.
