Arcata's Economic Development is a Top Priority !

• Development of enterprise collaborations within the local communities and region, including with HSU and especially its Applied Technology Dept., improving and extending historical efforts and policies.

• Advancement and evolution of local and regional agendas and events with regard to improving and expanding tourism programs.

• Recruitment of new business interests and activities consistent with local economic and cultural values.

• Expansion of outreach efforts related to locally existing and successful small-business assistance programs. For example, resources and access material could be supplied at time of issuance of business licenses.

• Attention to opportunities for best access and use of governmental funding opportunities for improving local economic conditions.

• Identification of specific commercial activities with significant local market potentials (including improvements in alternative transportation - such as bicycle trailers - and affordable housing - such as modular construction) for provision of incubative elaboration and progress, as an element of updated economic strategy.
