I started my carrer in Pleasant Hill as a Reserve Officer in August of 1971. In November of 1971, I was offered a police position that required that I move to Pleasant Hill. I completed all of the testing to include an interview with a Pyschiatrist. I was hired January 3, 1972. I worked every position that was then offered except under-cover narcotics. One of my most enjoyable postions was working in the Youth Services Bureau. I was trained through UC Berkeley to be a Counselor/ Police Officer. I worked Patrol, Traffic, and Detectives. During my 2 year assignment in Traffic, I investigated a fatality accident involving a drunk driver. My investigation revealed several prior convictions by the person who killed at 15 1/2 year old driver. The case was submitted to the District Attorney's Office and we charged the offender with murder. This was the second time in the state that such a charge was used against a drunk driver. He was found guilty of murder and was sent to prison. The case was over turned on a technicality and was tried again and was convicted of murder. He died 3 years later of alcohol poisoning in prison.

I worked in Detectives as a sexual assault investigator and during my 4 years, taught Juvenile sexual assault to officers recently assigned to investigations. This is a mandated education requirement.

I took a course offered by the then Director of the Regional Occupation Program to obtain a teaching Credential for Junior College and have taught at both Los Medanos College and currently at Napa Police Academy and my expertise is in Juvenile Law. I have taught that subject for 25 years and still love teaching.

I suffered a back injury as a Police Officer that subsequently cost me my carrier. I applied for the postion of Code Enforcment Officer and was hired at Pleasant Hill City Hall. I had an opportunity to work with many of the our current management staff. Because of my law enforcement background and my familiarity with the Judges, I was able to obtain abatement warrants when non-compliant property owners failed to make the required changes that affected health and safety issues.

After 13 years of responding to a high level of daily complaints, I was burnt out and needed to take a break. I retired, completed some home projects to make my new boss, my wife, happy. For all of this time, Pleasant Hill has been my place of employment, while I do live here I needed to have a change and now I want to make Pleasant Hill my home and serving as a Council Member will give me that opportunity. Hire me one more time and give me a chance to respond to your concerns by voting for me.

My kids are all adults now with the youngest at Diablo Valley College, the oldest is in the Police Academy, son number two is in the trades and my daughter is about to graduate from Paul Mitchell Beauty College in San Diego.
