This Caught my Eye

By Susan J. Sears

Candidate for Board Member; Feather River Recreation and Park District; Unexpired Short Term

This information is provided by the candidate
I have read both the Grand Jury Report and several letters to the editor of the Oroville Mercury-Register.
After reading the complete Grand Jury Report along with numerous letters to the editor of my local newspaper, I noticed that there was quite a divergence between the two sources of information. I have seen these kinds of accusations, denials and rebuttals before, and it occurred to me that the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

The Feather River Recreation and Parks District is a municipality and, as such, is governed by all the laws that apply to any agency which receives public funds - in plain English, our tax dollars. To me, it is very important to spend every dime of this money as wisely as possible, and I'm not convinced this has been the case with FRRPD in recent years.

Since I am not presently a member of the FRRPD board, I can not state definitively what actions I would recommend at this time. What I would do, if elected, is seek that middle ground between what appear to be widely divergent points of view, since I firmly believe there are some valid points on both sides.

I have many years of experience serving on boards and commissions - and the Oroville City Council - and am willing to offer that experience to the residents of south Butte County by serving on the FRRPD board.
