Dan Herbert has been a member of the Chico business community for over 30 years. He is part owner and President of Sheraton Real Estate Management, specializing in Residential and Commercial Real Estate Management. Sheraton Real Estate Management is also a full service property maintenance, remodeling and construction company. Prior to joining the team at Sheraton, Dan spent 24 years as an executive with Tri Counties Bank, a regional bank serving Northern and Central California that is headquartered in Chico.

Dan graduated from California State University, Chico in 1977 earning a Bachelors of Science Degree from the School of Business. He is also a 1989 graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.

Dan has been active in the Chico community his entire adult life. He has been a coach for the El Rancho Little League, is a past board member of the CSU, Chico Alumni Association, the Chico State Century Club, and has been active in the Chico Chamber of Commerce, the Women's Resource Clinic Crisis Pregnancy Center, the Jesus Center and Neighborhood Church of Chico. Most recently, he served as chair of the Community Drug and Alcohol Task Force which has been instrumental in tackling the issues associated with out of control special events centered on the university age population.

Dan was elected on his first attempt, to the Chico City Council in 1998. Midway through his first year in office, he was appointed by his fellow Council members to finish out the term of the late Bill Johnston as Vice Mayor. In December of 2000, he was appointed to a two year term as Mayor of the City of Chico. He was re-elected to the city council in 2002. While serving on the City Council Dan earned a reputation as a common sense public servant willing to tackle the tough issues with integrity. He has worked with broad coalitions of people to develop creative solutions to the challenges facing Chico.

Dan grew up in a Democratic home and considers himself a "Reagan Republican" changing parties at the onset of the Ronald Reagan Presidential era. A San Francisco native, he moved to Chico in 1973 to attend the University and has lived in Chico ever since. Dan has been married to wife Kathy for 27 years. Dan and Kathy have three children, Beth Copeland who is now married and is an agent at Century 21 Real Estate, Scott and Jackie who are attending college.
