Smart Voter Political Philosophy for William H. "Bill" Dunlop

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

About Bill Dunlop:

I have decided to run again for the Livermore School Board. Two years ago when I was elected to the Board of Education the School District was in a very difficult financial position. Fortunately, the budget picture for the District has substantially improved. Now the focus must move from restoring financial solvency to improving academic achievement and student wellbeing. I feel I can bring some innovative thinking and creativity to the School Board to encourage improvement in the Livermore School District in these critical areas.

I realize that achieving improvement in our schools will take more that a committed School Board. It will take the involvement of the entire community. Together we must find innovative ways to enhance the programs in the schools and the value they provide to our children.

My formal education includes a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. in physics from UCLA. I have lived in Livermore for over 30 years. My wife, Sally, taught vocal music at Livermore and Granada High Schools for 18 years and our three daughters attended Livermore Schools.

I want to represent the entire Livermore community as we work to provide a quality education for our young people.
