Accomplishments in Transportation 2002-06 in Ward 5

These are important pieces to the transportation puzzle for the Ward 5 area.
Established a fiscal reporting of revenue and expenses for Fremont, Newark and AC Transit. The financial equity issues have been resolved.

A consultant was hired to review the transportation needs for Fremont and Newark. The consultant met with riders, focus groups, held public hearings in Newark and Fremont.

AC Transit Board Meetings were held in Newark and Fremont to discuss the constultant's finding and what service needed to be put into place.

Express services were established to Stanford. The Dumbarton service was refined and the SB line was esablished from south Fremont and Newark to the Transbay terminal inSan Francisco.

Established new service to Pacific Commons, new service to the Sikkh Temple in Fremont and new service to the Hindu Temple in Milpitas.

Meetings were held with BART and AC Transit to improve paratransit services

Doubling the size (purchasing land) of the Park and Ride in Fremont

30 small (30 foot) quiet, fuel efficient and low emission buses for use in Newark and Fremont

"Circulators" joining points of various destinations throughout the cities
