Promoting Small Business

By Russ Warner

Candidate for United States Representative; District 26; Democratic Party

This information is provided by the candidate
"Small business will be the foundation of the new American economy."
Small businesses add to economic diversity, reduce the risk of industrial stagnation and contribute to a robust economy by introducing new ideas, products, and techniques. For instance, through the development of new sustainable and environmentally responsible technologies, small businesses can play an integral role in helping to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. They can also promote progress without pollution and grow our economy while protecting our natural resources.

Small businesses are the primary vehicle by which millions of women, minorities, and immigrants enter the economic and social mainstream of American society - both as employees and business owners.

Unlike the large corporations, investment and growth in small business expands the local tax base and, in this era of job exports, small businesses account for a significant portion of all new jobs created.

The President recently gave another $136 billion in tax breaks to corporate America, while slashing funding to a key Small Business Administration loan program.

A successful small businessman, Russ Warner will fight to not only fund programs like this but also to lower the cost of small business loans. He will also call on governmental agencies to spend at least a quarter of their contracting dollars with small businesses and advocate tax breaks for those small businesses that create new jobs.
