Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Mike McGill

Candidate for
Member of the State Assembly; District 67; Republican Party

Illegal immigration is costing California taxpayers up to $10 billion a year in welfare, education law enforcement and healthcare benefits. The legislature has even gone as far as giving taxpayer subsidized tuition so illegal aliens can attend our colleges. And they have continued their push to give drivers licenses to illegal aliens + even after it was vetoed the last time. I believe these outrages must stop now.

That's why I have been endorsed by the Minuteman Project and by John and Barbara March, the parents of Deputy Sheriff David March who was murdered by an illegal alien. I believe the first step is to stop illegals at the border + so I support the formation of a state Border Police Force. I will also vote to cut off all benefits to illegals + and no drivers licenses for illegal aliens which threatens the security of our nation.

On the City Council, I have opposed all attempts to raise taxes and fees + and I am a staunch supporter of Proposition 13. I am endorsed by both the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and the National Tax-Limitation Committee PAC. The California Club for Growth has also endorsed me as they know I am the only choice to crack down on the legislature's wasteful spending.

As a small business owner, I have met a payroll and created jobs. I understand the necessity of keeping taxes low so companies can prosper and our economy can grow. I also oppose excessive government regulations so businesses can produce good-paying jobs. I will also support a tough spending cap so the legislature will be forced to live within our state's means. Families have to balance their budgets every year + the legislature should, too.

Married for 23 years and a proud father of two boys, I believe marriage is between a man and a woman...so I will oppose liberal efforts to give gay marriages the same recognition as the traditional family. An active member of my church, I believe we must protect life at all stages + that's why I have supported the Parental Notification Initiative and will support similar measures in the Assembly.

Endorsed by both the Cypress & Seal Beach Police Officers Association, I am a strong supporter of the Jessica's Law initiative to crack down on child molesters. I will also support legislation to limit the number of appeals for convicted capital murderers so they will spend less time on death row. A strong supporter of the "Three Strikes" initiative, I will fight the liberal trial lawyers and ACLU-types who would weaken that successful law.
