United States Representative; District 37; Democratic Party

Peter Mathews has been teaching in the Southern California area for over 20 years at Cypress Community college. In addition, he has been a long time activist, particularly in the area of education. He founded Rescue Education California; an organization which has successfully helped blocked then Governor Pete Wilson from increasing the tuition costs at the community college to $30 a unit.

Peter Mathews has also held elected municipal office in Northern California and ran as the Democratic nominee against then Congressman Steven Horn. Despite having only a fraction of what Congressman Horn had in his re-election campaign, Peter Mathews nearly won, only loosing by 3%.

In this current campaign, Peter Mathews has built a strong coalition of college students, community activists, elected officials, artists and workers to help lead the Democratic Party back to its progressive roots. Like before, Peter Mathews has REFUSED to accept corporate money.
