Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Jim Keller

Candidate for
United States Representative; District 29; Libertarian Party

This information is provided by the candidate

Like most people in this district, I am fiscally conservative and socially progressive.

America was founded on the simple notion that we all have the right to live as equals, and to control our own lives, liberty, and property as we see fit (as long as we don't infringe on the rights of others to do the same).

So why is it that both of the major political parties seem to have forgotten this? Democrats and Republicans alike seem to be in a race to see who can grow the largest government and to see which party can best impose its morality on you. The Libertarian party stands alone saying that you, not the government, should be in charge of your life.

In America, we urgently need:

  • To balance the Federal budget and eliminate waste, bureaucracy, and pork
  • To govern according to the Constitution, abolish the U.S.A. Patriot Act, and respect the rights of all Americans
  • To end not only the Iraq war but the entire philosophy that we have the right to use our military to impose our will on other nations
  • To treat all people as equals, regardless of race, age, religion, gender, sexual identity, or any other arbitrary classifications we come up with
  • To stop "corporate welfare" and ensure that all businesses, big and small, have the same opportunities and a level playing field
  • To remember that government works for the people, and must be accountable to the people at all times.

I am the only candidate with a viable plan for accomplishing all these goals.
