Smart Voter Political Philosophy for William "Bill" Jenkin

Candidate for
Member of the State Assembly; District 77; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate

I am running as a Republican for the 77th Assembly District seat because I understand the problems and frustrations of residents and business owners. My agenda is simple:

First, I will work to stop the reckless spending by politicians and cut government waste. Everyday, our state government needlessly wastes millions of your hard earned dollars. Our government should be held accountable for the money it spends, the promises they make and the results it delivers. I own two small businesses - I know what a burden the government puts on business owners. I will be your voice in the Capitol to stop the tax increases and to cut away the bureaucratic clutter.

Next, I will work hard to ensure child molesters and other dangerous criminals are put behind bars and kept there. This is why I have supported Jessica's Law which seeks to close a loophole in the current law that allows sexually violent offenders to refuse treatment and bank on winning release through a court hearing that each offender receives every two years. Almost all of those released without completing treatment have returned to society with less supervision than lower-risk predators freed directly from prison. This is NOT acceptable. It is our job to protect children and to fully prosecute those responsible of illegal acts.

Third - it is imperative that we invest in better roads, schools and parks. This should not be done by putting future generations billions of dollars in debt. Borrowing is not the answer. We need to cut the fat out of the state budget and create a pay-as-go program to repair the infrastructure in the state. In fact, I am a supporter of the initiative to close the loophole on Proposition 42. This measure prevents politicians from raiding transportation funds and spending the money on other programs. It is essential that the money that voters authorized to go for infrastructure improvements go for that purpose.

I am a father, a husband and a business owner - I vow to work for you. I will represent you with a style of governing that makes sense a style that is not wasteful and that protects our community.
