Bush Should be ImpeachedBy Charles R. "Chuck" Coleman, Jr.Candidate for United States Representative; District 28; Democratic Party | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
When the executive branch violates the law it is the duty of the House of Representatives to initiate impeachment. President Bush broke the FISA law, and admits it.When Senator Russ Feingold called for the censure of President Bush for breaking the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act(FISA), he did his duty. Feingold did not embarrass himself. It was the Democrats who decided not to join him who were an embarrassment. It is also the duty of the House Members to initiate impeachment proceeding against President Bush. We have a system of checks and balances in case there is an abuse of power. President Bush has confessed his crime of spying on Americans on American soil without a warrant several times. Therefore, we don't even need an investigation. We just need conscientious, responsible leadership. Some argue that it is best to wait. Democrats in the Congress, although they are in the minority, are still collecting a big salary. They have a job that they are supposed to do. If all they are going to do is sit on their hands, then they don't deserve getting paid. |
