During her tenure on the City Council, Renee Chavez has focused on bringing the following improvements to La Puente:

Greater Access to Health Care

• Renee Chavez has helped expand and promote an annual health fair for La Puente residents. At these events, the city provides free cholesterol, cancer, and diabetes screenings to identify and treat health issues prevalent among area residents.

• Renee understood that educational opportunities for young people would lower youth crime and gang involvement. Renee worked with the council to secure funding for a youth learning center in La Puente that will provide a place for local youth and community members to utilize computers and the Internet. The center will keep kids off the streets and in classes that supplement their classroom learning.

• Renee worked with local Sheriffs to crack down on illegal fireworks that cause accidents and injuries. Police patrols have increased, and crime rates throughout the city have lowered since Renee joined the council.

• Renee Chavez consistently works to collaborate with her colleagues to implement a balanced local budget. She has encouraged new businesses that bring jobs and tax revenues to the city, so the City of La Puente can provide residents with the services they need.
