Reducing the Tax Burden and Strengthening Families

By Rosemarie "Rosie" Avila

Candidate for United States Representative; District 47; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
We must reduce the tax burden on our working families. Congress needs to find ways to decrease the size of government. I am an author of the Parental Notification Initiate. I will look at each bill that is presented to Congress and make sure it strengthens the family.
As a Congresswoman I will look at each bill and make sure it strengthens the family, the cornerstone of our civilization. Strong families make for a strong America.

The American family is burdened with excessive taxes. Congress needs to consistently look for ways to reduce the size of government. We must monitor programs and make sure they are effective and fall under the role of government. If not, they need to be eliminated. I also support making the recent tax cuts permanent.

I am the author of the original Parental Notification Initiative that is very similar to the initiative that will probably be voted on in the November election. Parental Notification won in the 47th Congressional District by 11,000 votes.

We need to introduce more competition into our health care system so that more of our money goes directly for health care - not for expensive advertising, unnecessary managers and insurance companies. Our health care system has been severely impacted by illegal immigration. With so many working for so little, creating a permanent underclass, we are being forced to ration health care as in other socialist countries, and the cost is spiraling out of control.

We must protect a family's right to own property without fear of confiscation by government. Elected officials need to guard against the abuse of eminent domain.

Our social security system is in trouble. There is no "Social Security Trust Fund." The Congress has been raiding social security tax dollars for decades. With a large, aging population, we do not have enough people in the work force to sustain social security benefits for those who have paid into the system all of their lives. We must ensure everyone over fifty years of age has the social security due them. For our younger population, we have to find new ways of providing security for retirement age. I believe in personal saving accounts that are secure from taxes and raids by Congress that can be transferred to our children and grandchildren after we are gone.

We need to continue to provide our vulnerable population, such as the elderly, disabled and physically impaired, a needed safety net.
