Illegal Immigration

By Rosemarie "Rosie" Avila

Candidate for United States Representative; District 47; Republican Party

We must first secure our borders, then enforce our laws, including employee sanctions. I oppose another amnesty and a guest worker program. We must streamline our immigration and citizenship process. It will take our three institutions: Government, Church and Family to restore order and solve our immigration crisis.
We are facing a tremendous crisis with illegal immigration. First and foremost we must secure our borders. Secondly, we must enforce our present laws, including employer sanctions. We must also stop providing government benefits to non-citizens. We cannot continue to pay for enforcement and also pay for incentives. I oppose another amnesty and a guest worker program. I also oppose a special pathway to citizenship. In America we are all equal and need to have the same system for everyone.

We must overhaul our immigration process and citizenship process so that we can make sure everyone coming into our country is screened properly and that they have the necessary skills to sustain themselves in our free-economy. We must speed up and streamline the process. It should not take years to come into our country legally or to be processed as a citizen.

Our government needs to preserve our rule of law. America is a Constitutional Republic. We elect representatives of character to make laws and we expect that everyone, including those we elect, should obey the laws that are made.

America is a compassionate country. We have always held our arms open to welcome new immigrants into our country. Balancing the rule of law and our compassion for the less fortunate makes this a very emotional issue.

It will take our three institutions: GOOVERNMENT, CHURCH AND FAMILY to restore order, bring back a proper balance to our economy and to restore a united America. If America does what is right, our problems will take care of themselves.

We can stay true to the rule of law while remaining a compassionate people. Our government must "wield the sword" as it were, to protect our citizens and our country and enforce our laws. The Church needs to be compassionate and provide emergency services for the poor whether legal or illegal, while teaching people to understand our form of governmenT, the importance of obeying laws and giving all people hope and faith for a good future. Parents, or the family, need to take the instruction of their children seriously and make sure the schools do NOT undermine their personal values, but DO teach our national values and our common language, English.
